Luckie’s Fabulous Tavern Baltimore
We had a pre-show dinner here before the Rodney Atkins concert at Ram’s Head Live. The staff was wonderfully attentive and very courteous.
We decided to just share several of the appetizers. The Baked Crab Dip was the highlight. It seemed to just melt in your mouth. I’m not a huge crab fan but I tried it as I try to do everything at dinners like this and I was more than glad I did. No matter what else you order when you visit, get the Baked Crab Dip!
The Fried Mozzarella was tasty but comes in a very small portion and not good for groups at all. And the chicken tenders were great, typical chicken tenders.
The Nachos were plentiful and very flavorful with the mixture of the guacamole, chili, queso and pico di gallo. Spicy but not too spicy.
Atmosphere was perfect for a fun bar vibe.
I give it a 4 out of 5 rating.

A Year…Wow?!?
Depending on how much your life was changed that day you are probably saying today either “Wow, it’s already been a year?” or “Wow, I can’t believe it has only been a year!” But most, like me, that were here for it can honestly say it changed my life in various ways!
Last April 27th was one of the most scary days of my life and I didn’t even receive damage to my home. I started out at work at First Baptist that morning. After being in the basement most of the time I was at work and having members rushing in to join as us they were too far from home or work to take cover. Hearing one cry as she is told her house has been hit but she has no idea how bad and another frantic over not being sure where her child was, at school, on their way home or at home.
After decided to leave work during one of the lulls I had to change my route home 3 times because another tornado was heading in the direction I was going. After finally getting home and checking in on loved ones and being checked in on by people near and far by text/email/phone I hunkered down with my two fur babies the best I could.
At one point looking out my bedroom window I saw the wall cloud and while I’m typically the person during an emergency or stressful situation that is calm and doesn’t freak out until after…I screamed my head off and was frozen for a few moments. Then I ran to my office grabbed the mattress off the futon and held on to my fur babies and that mattress for dear life.
And I didn’t even get hit. I can not imagine those that did.
Many prayers were said and so very many came to help in various ways throughout the past year by either literally showing up to help or playing concerts to raise money or planning and executing a variety of other fundraisers.
I like to believe that in the worst times we go through there is the opportunity to see the best in the people around us. I think Alabama showed that over the past year and I think many, many people all over this country showed it to us as well!
Grateful… Blessed… Prayerful…
It Is Between You and God
A friend in my “Soul Sisters” group sent this to us awhile back. It is a quote from Mother Teresa. It has become part of my weekly spiritual life! Thanks Rebecca (and Mother Teresa!)
People are often unreasonable,
irrational, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse
you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some
unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere
people may deceive you;
Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating
others could destroy overnight;
Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness,
some may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today,
will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway.
Give the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis,
it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.
Epic Fail
Have you ever just completely failed at something? Either something you were supposed to do that didn’t, or something you did horribly wrong? I’m not talking about the kind of failure where you tried your best and it just didn’t work. I mean the kind where YOU failed, YOU didn’t do your best, YOU didn’t deliver what you promised.
I did that this past week and for those that know me…you know it kills me. I wasn’t planning on failing or letting anyone down. Yet, all the same, I did.
I’ve owned up to the failure. I’ve made the best amends I can other than go back in time and make it not happen but that is the problem, you can never make it not happen.
So my goal for this weekend is to get myself centered where I don’t drop the ball (intentionally or otherwise). For me that means getting more organized, checking things twice (or thrice
) and most importantly prayer (lots of it).
I’m hard on the people I love sometimes but I’m harder on myself. However I have learned that it is a whole other mistake to punish myself for stupid mistakes (I know stupid isn’t a nice word or one that I like but it fits). I can dust myself off, make amends, give it to the Lord and work harder next time to not make said mistake again.
But if you see me beating my head against a wall this coming week, you’ll know I undoubtedly did it again and went with the punishing instead of logic
Thanks to my loving, amazing, brutally honest friends that call me out on my crap and then help me fix it!
Going Back to the Basics
Yep, I’m going back to blogging like I used to…sometimes just about life, sometimes a contest, sometimes a review but mostly just saying whatever I feel like on any given day instead of what I call “purpose blogging” which has been the way it has been the past couple of years.
So for those that don’t know me personally, you’re about to lol
Have a great week y’all!
Housewares Wednesday: Cocoa-Latte Hot-Drink Maker Review & Contest
I’m a big entertainer, especially in the winter time and not just around the holidays. While I do a good bit of traveling in the warmer/better weather months, I host various parties from mid-November through the beginning of March. And while I live in the south where we don’t get a lot of snow, we still get cold winters (normally lol) and this Hot chocolate maker is FANTASTIC! I love things that you start and then let it do its thing. And this item really does just that. Once you put in the ingredients you are set.
I give this a 4 1/2 out of 5 rating.
I’m giving one Back to Basics Cocoa-Latte Chrome 32-Ounce Hot-Drink Maker away. Entering is simple as 1, 2, 3. Contest ends midnight February 11, 2012

Housewares Wednesday: Joseph Joseph Scoop Colander Review & Contest
When you cook as much pasta, vegetables and fried foods as I do you have to have more than one colander. This Joseph Joseph Scoop Colander was a great addition to my kitchen for the smaller jobs. Instead of getting out my larger colanders when cooking either just for myself or a small amount this does the job perfectly. It can also help when you are adding in a little pasta at a time with sauce and mixes to get an even coat.
I give it a 4 1/2 out of 5.
I’m giving away five Joseph Joseph Scoop Colanders. Entering is simple as 1, 2, 3. Contest ends midnight January 28, 2012
