In My Mailbox
As a book lover and rejuvenated reader this past week was exciting. I finished one book, had several arrive in the mail (thanks again JenDi) and started reading 3 more books. My time hasn’t been the best for reading but with the summer comes less TV shows and more time for reading, although most of the TV shows I can read and watch at the same time lol The addition of the latest job is getting into swing and I’m finding more little moments to steal away book time. I love that!
In the mail I received Laci by Michael Fleeman, A Little Bit Wicked by Kristen Chenoweth & Joni Rodgers, Stories from Candyland by Candy Spelling, Inside the Mind of Scott Peterson by Keith R Ablow & Twenty Wishes by Debbie Macomber.
I finished Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris and will start, Club Dead, the next book in the Sookie Stackhouse /Southern Vampire Series this week. The writing improved some and the poor editing wasn’t nearly as bad in Living Dead in Dallas as it was in the first book of the series, Dead Until Dark. The action and movement of the storyline was still a little drawn out for me but to be honest 90% of it needed to be there so I understand why it was that way. Like I’ve said before if it weren’t for friends that I trust on reading recommendations I would have never continued with this series and would just have continued to enjoy True Blood as a television series only.

I’ve also started the latest book in the Vampire Diaries Series by L.J. Smith but just barely. I loved the first 3 and somewhat enjoyed the 4th but the 5th was not my favorite so I’m hoping the 6th, The Return: Shadow Souls, will be more like the earlier work. We shall see. Just like True Blood, I’m having to get used to the differences in the TV show Vampire Diaries and it’s storylines and the book series. I love both equally and independent of each other.
The latest book I’ve started reading is True Believer by Nicholas Sparks . I’ve become a fan after reading The Choice and can’t wait to get caught up on all of his books. I’ve seen a few of the movies that have been made from his books and am very interested in reading those as well to compare. The stories and the settings are all pretty magical to me.
I’m still reading on James Patterson’s 1st To Die. It has taken longer than I had planned but I’m enjoying every page.
