Things between cocktail waitress Sookie and her vampire boyfriend Bill seem to be going excellently (apart from the small matter of him being undead) until he leaves town for a while. A long while. Bill’s sinister boss Eric has an idea of where to find him, whisking her off to Jackson, Mississippi to mingle with the under-underworld at Club Dead. When she finally catches up with the errant vampire, he is in big trouble and caught in an act of serious betrayal. This raises serious doubts as to whether she should save him or start sharpening a few stakes of her own …

My Review

My favorite book in this series yet! As I stated earlier I was disappointed with the first book for it’s poor editing if nothing else. If it hadn’t been for great friends that I trust their opinion and the fact that I love the TV show I probably would have stopped there, but I continued.

This book moved faster and I turned almost every page more excited than the previous one. The first couple of chapters I read over two days but the rest of the book I finished in a day. I loved the introduction of Alcede and his character in general and hope that he comes back later in the series.

Eric & Sookie’s relationship is mesmerizing and the love/hate of it was wonderfully portrayed. I was surprised by Bill’s actions in this one but that’s all I can say without spoiling the review for potential readers.
