Kindle vs iPad
So as many of my friends know and have had to listen to me ramble on and on about the past couple of weeks. I have a new Kindle and a new iPad through contests and gifts. I am in love with both, for very different reasons however.
If you’re looking for an eReader then go with the Kindle. 100% hands down best for eReading. The iPad is too heavy and bulky for reading for long periods of time in my opinion…and there is the glare issue. Amazon.com has made it oh so simple to get the eBooks and get them quickly so for all my book lovers, go for the Kindle y’all!
While I prefer to read from my Kindle, sometimes I just don’t want to carry two things around with me and I ALWAYS have my iPad with me lol I have the Kindle, Nook and Books A Million Apps on my Ipad so in a pinch I always have books with me from whatever provider had the lowest price when I orderd my book. I’m a bargain shopper and I have no problem going to all four sites to see which one will give me the best deal on the books. For the most part they are typically within a dollar or so of each other but, hey every dollar adds up. I can’t say one site is cheaper than the others because it really varies on the book, when you order it and what sales they have at the time you want the book.
Now for everything else under the sun, go for iPad lol I can’t believe how much (and how well) this thing does! I work on it, I play on it! I take my music, books, work, games…everything on it and it is AMAZING! Like I said, I carry this with me EVERYWHERE!
I have the 64GB with WiFi & 3G. The site I won it from gave me the first month of 3G on them and then I’ll have to pay for it after that. I do use the 3G when I’m at job # 2 because there is no WiFi anywhere near there but at Job #1 I use the company WiFi. So far I’ve had NO down time or times when the 3G wasn’t in range/service. And I’m not the biggest AT&T fan so that is an unexpected plus to me. Now in saying that I also haven’t been traveling as of late so I reserve the right to change my opinion on the 3G service after a trip or two lol
I also recommend the Word With Friends, Scrabble, Angry Birds, Netflix, IMDB, ESPN Score Center, TMZ and Doodle Find (Thanks Lydia!) apps. I’m so addicted to Words with Friends and Scrabble that it isn’t EVEN funny! Of course I also have Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare, Yelp and Loopt…being the social media queen geek that I am lol
If you can afford an iPad, buy it! It is a great investment and it is good for work, play, personal, business and etc. The only complaint that I have and the thing that leaves me scratching my head is why on earth is there not a camera on the iPad? I guess that is something they’ll have come out in the next generation or the next of their product but with them being so expensive it kind of stinks to do it that way. Just my opinion.
If a camera is a big deal to you, then I would wait to see if some of the buzz about cameras being added later is true before making the purchase.
So a quick recap, if you want an eReader only…go with Kindle. If you want a mini-computer and all in one great tool/tablet then iPad all the way!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
