Daytona 500 Champ – Trevor Bayne

How exciting it was to see Trevor Bayne race and push the whole day and then cross the finish line as the Daytona 500 Champion.
I’ve been a fan for awhile and was so proud of how well he handled himself the whole speedweeks and then his interviews and press conference after the big win made me even a bigger fan.
To hear him before and after the race giving the glory to God was amazing. And true to who he is and how he lives his life.
I do worry about him moving up to Cup this year though. We saw how other drivers moved up too fast off of an exciting win and it not working out as well long term. While I think this kid is amazingly talented I would like to see him finish this year in the Nationwide series and then move into Cup next year as planned. As a fan he’ll have more press and chance to grow that way than if he were to move into the Cup series right now.
I think the lack of time to grow has been the main problem with a lot of the younger drivers coming up. They were given such a short time to grow and learn. Trevor is talented and has his whole life to be a Cup driver, take now to fine tune everything before you aren’t given the time.
What a great role model he is being for young kids coming up and how proud his parents must be. He gained a lot of new fans this Sunday. I hope enjoys every minute of this time to shine as the Daytona 500 Champion!
